Description:

The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1973 dedicated to educating the public and healthcare professionals about the causes, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases. NFID carries out its mission by:

  • Educating the Public
  • Educating Healthcare Professionals
  • Supporting Research and Training in Infectious Diseases
  • Building Coalitions
  • Honoring Scientific and Public Health Achievement, Legislative Contributions, and Philanthropy in Infectious Diseases

Final internship activities will be developed in collaboration with the intern and supervisor to ensure they meet both the intern’s individual professional goals and align with available opportunities at NFID. Potential internship activities may include:

  1. Develop and review materials for communicating important immunization updates to healthcare professionals and the public
  2. Assist in implementing social media strategy and tools for collaboration and tracking of NFID activities; includes development of graphics, social media posts, and scheduling of content calendars
  3. Review content and recommend updates to NFID websites and new social media activities
  4. Research and compile data on burden of vaccine-preventable diseases in the US
  5. Share and present updates, information, recommendations, suggestions to organization management and leadership

Qualifications:

  • Strong oral/written communication skills required with an eye for detail (writing samples requested).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Experience with various social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
