As a member of the Philanthropy Team at OIC, the Major Gifts Officer, BC, is responsible to maintain and grow a portfolio of major donors that includes individuals, businesses, private foundations and community groups.  In coordination with the VP of Philanthropy, the incumbent will develop a regional strategy to maintain relationships with existing donors, as well as identify and qualify new, prospective donors, cultivating authentic and meaningful relationships which will lead to growth in revenue. Philanthropy Team members have a deep and abiding passion for the mission of Opportunity International and its commitment to economic, spiritual, and social transformation. Additionally, Philanthropy Team members adhere to a Biblical model and philosophy of fundraising and financial stewardship.



Requirements

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic portfolio plan to generate major gifts from prospective and current donors within the assigned regions to meet and exceed set revenue, portfolio, and activity goals.
  • Maintain and grow a strong portfolio of current donors, as well as identify, cultivate, and steward new prospects.
  • Maintain and grow a portfolio of donors giving gifts greater than $10,000. The portfolio includes individuals, private foundations, businesses, and community groups.
  • In collaboration with the Event Coordinator, organize and host events to attract new donor prospects with skilled pre-event preparation and timely and thoughtful post-event follow up. This includes region events as well as a peer-to-peer fundraising event in partnership with the Tour de Victoria.
  • Recruit, organize and provide support to teams cycling on behalf of OIC in the Tour de Victoria.
  • Work closely with key area volunteers to support regional fundraising strategies.
  • Conduct face-to-face and virtual meetings with existing and prospective donors. 
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with other members of the Philanthropy team and the other teams within Opportunity Canada. 
  • Manage high-level, strategic donor relationships. Add new major donors to portfolio each year and develop long-term donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
  • Manage an expense budget that will be leveraged to maximize the revenue generated from the territory.
  • Meet annual retention and lapsed donor reactivation goals as set by VP, Philanthropy.
  • Lead donors on Insight Trips to visit field work in coordination with the VP, Philanthropy.
