Description

Responsible for effectively managing external relationships with community members and community stakeholders by developing effective and inclusive outreach, organizing, mobilization and information sharing strategies.  Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department. 

Attends overall outreach requests, builds and maintains service and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders from various communities.  Manages a team of outreach specialist, vendor outreach specialist, and an event planner, volunteers and interns, to fulfill the needs of the department and community via outreach.  Plans and facilitates community meetings to convey information on social services resources, information and provide support for any specialized community needs.  Supports activities related to the distribution of social services materials to at-risk, under served, and special population communities regarding information needed to register or access social services.  Researches and advocates for community resources and individuals and connects communities in need to the appropriate resources.  Builds and maintains an annual resource book consisting of a list of contact information for key internal/external contacts and community resources to be distributed to the community.  Performs other duties as assigned.  Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

 



Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (or Associates degree with 3 years of community organizing and public relations experience or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of community organizing or public relations experience.)  One year of community organizing or public relations experience.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Strong public speaking and presentation skills.  Ability to work on multiple projects with clear deadlines.  Ability to work with a diverse range of groups, including all communities, ethnicities, religions, and cultural and social groups/backgrounds.  Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.  Ability to work independently, takes initiative, able to work with a diverse group of individuals, strong writing skills, excellent public relation skills. 

 

SALARY RANGE: Professional/Management Grade 10, $1,792.80 - $2,159.20 biweekly based on qualifications
