Description
The Office of Student Life is focused on building a strong foundation to ensure every student's Indiana University experience is positive, safe, healthy, and meaningful. The Office of Student Life staff and multiple departments aim to help students navigate their time at IU, providing the tools they need to be successful in school and after graduation. Students are our priority, and their health, safety, and overall well-being are our core mission.Residence Life houses predominantly first-year students in 15 traditional residence halls. In addition to our traditional floors, we have 21 Living Learning Centers and Thematic Communities and two apartment complexes for graduate and family housing.
The Hoosier Den is a late-night entertainment space run by students, for students located in the Foster and Read residence halls. Meet new people, try new things, and have an entertaining evening with us. Our facility always strives to meet the entertainment and social needs of students through dynamic programming and facility accessibility.
Job Summary
- Actively collaborates with the Program Coordinator to develop, plan, and implement large-scale monthly late-night programs and weekly themed events for internal organizations within the regular business hours of the Hoosier Den.
- Manages and tracks program proposals to ensure timely submission, accurate documentation, and proper approvals.
- Works at 1 or both Hoosier Den locations, Read Hall and Foster Quad, based on event needs.
- Provides hands-on support during events, including setup and tear down of tables, chairs, and equipment.
- Opens and closes the Hoosier Den space responsibly, ensuring readiness and security.
- Assists with event execution, including logistics, supply coordination, and documentation to ensure smooth operations.
- Submits supply requests to the Residence Life Coordinator for Student Involvement and Engagement and maintain a visible, supportive presence during events.
- Collaborates effectively with the Program Coordinator, Building Coordinator, and external partners to support programming goals.
- Supports external events by coordinating with the Building Coordinator, helping outside organizations with layout and technology setup with some events occurring outside regular Hoosier Den business hours.
- Reports misconduct or policy violations involving Hoosier Den employees or patrons to the Residence Life Coordinator for Student Involvement and Engagement.
- Attends bi-weekly staff meetings to stay informed, contribute ideas, and align with departmental goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
- Currently studying Event Management, Marketing, Hospitality and/or Tourism Management
Preferred
- Event Planning experience
- Program Management experience
Required
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to accomplish tasks on deadlines
- Ability to plan, set up, and manage events from start to finish
- Basic understanding of event technology (e.g., microphones, projectors, AV equipment)
- Willing to work in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to remain focused on work-related responsibilities during scheduled shifts
Working Conditions / Demands
The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of moving around an office environment and the campus. The position involves being able to move furniture up to 50 pounds in order to configure a requested setup. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Work Location
This is an in-person position in Bloomington, Indiana.
Advertised Salary
$12.00 per hour
Work Hours
Ability to work between the hours of 8:00 p.m. - 12 a.m., 7 days a week.
2 shifts per week for 8-12 hours a week. Position can work up to 29 hours per week across all campus jobs but cannot exceed 29 hours per week across all campus employment.
