Position Overview
The Lead Assistant Golf Professional will work closely with the Director of Golf to oversee and support all aspects of daily golf operations. This individual will be directly involved in instruction, club fitting, tournament administration, merchandise operations, and member engagement. The successful candidate will also serve as a visible and active ambassador of The Club at Rolling Hills, helping to cultivate a welcoming and professional atmosphere throughout the golf operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Golf in managing day-to-day golf operations
- Assist in the coordination and execution of member and guest tournaments and events
- Provide private and group instruction for players of all levels
- Conduct professional club fittings and promote merchandise sales
- Supervise, train, and motivate outside service and golf shop staff
- Maintain accurate records of play, pace of play, and member engagement programs
- Deliver exceptional member service through proactive communication and attention to detail
- Represent the Club in a professional manner at all times
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, the Rules of Golf, and tournament operations
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and provide constructive feedback
- Experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and proficient in industry software such as Golf Genius, ForeTees, POS systems, and related applications
- Demonstrated experience in instruction, club fitting, and retail operations
- PGA Member or Associate in good standing preferred
- Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 (commensurate with experience)

Experience Required
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of four years of vocational or industry training in a golf course program or organization
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Golf Genius software, tee sheet management, POS systems, and event software
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
- PGA Member in good standing, or an eligible Associate PGA Professional capable of attaining Class A membership within the timeline provided by the program
- Level 2 PGM Student or higher
- Minimum of four years' experience in a golf operation with supervisory responsibilities
- Proven teaching experience and player development expertise
Essential Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Golf in overseeing the management and performance of all Golf Shop and related operations and services; assure high standards and total member satisfaction
- Assist in managing Outside Operations staff to ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved
- Facilitate and manage tournament operations for all men's and women's programs, including planning, pre-tournament setup, on-course coordination, scoring, billing, prize distribution, and post-event follow-up
- Oversee Golf Shop operations, including policies, procedures, controls, and fee structures
- Assist in the inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders - including ordering, receiving, point-of-sale input, pricing, display, and sales management
- Train, motivate, and develop Golf Shop staff to ensure effective sales performance, customer service, and product knowledge
- Assist with all opening and closing procedures
- Conduct individual lessons and group clinics for players of all skill levels
- Perform re-gripping and minor club repair or modification work, if equipment is available
- Maintain a professional image and demeanor at all times
- 3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Golf Professional preferred
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional member service and represent the Club in a professional manner
- Approachable, proactive, and eager to learn and grow as a valued member of the professional team
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, the Rules of Golf, and tournament operations
