Description
OverviewThe Food and Beverage Manager is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the General Manager. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional hospitality, customer service, and team engagement, ensuring a high-quality culinary experience. The Manager oversees food and beverage operations, banquet services, and housekeeping. Maintaining professionalism, a positive attitude, and upholding the highest customer service standards are essential to achieving a four-star golf experience. The position is classified as Exempt under the FLSA.
Experience Required
- 5 years of supervisory experience in a restaurant, golf club, or hospitality setting preferred
- Food Manager Certification, Allergens Certification, and Alcohol Management Certification (TIPS or TAM) required within 30 days of employment
- Strong computer and verbal communication skills
- Ability to make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Proven multitasking skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Availability to work seven days per week during peak season
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Essential Responsibilities
- Demonstrate professionalism and always maintain a polished image
- Maintain mandatory government records on sanitation and food subsidies
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations for food preparation and facility maintenance
- Communicate effectively with Health Inspectors via various channels
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and dress code
- Evaluate work processes and address operational challenges to improve service, safety, and performance
- Responsible for hiring, training, motivating, scheduling, disciplining, and terminating staff as necessary
- Develop marketing, promotion, and revenue-generating strategies
- Oversee proper cleaning and sanitation in all dining and banquet areas
- Lead pre-banquet meetings to ensure staff preparedness
- Work with the Event Coordinator and Lead Cook for banquet menu needs
- Supervise banquet events and special functions for seamless execution
- Set up and break down banquet events; keep event spaces and storage clean and organized
- Monitor food preparation, portion sizes, and presentation to maintain high standards
- Assist with direct food preparation, cooking, and cleaning tasks when necessary
- Work closely with kitchen and restaurant staff to create a positive work culture focused on teamwork, professionalism, and accountability
- Collaborate with Lead Cook to update and implement menus
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of menu offerings, specials, cocktails, and wine
- Responsible for purchasing, receiving, and checking orders for quality and quantity; manage stock rotation and cost control for food, beverages and supplies
- Perform monthly food and beverage inventory
- Address customer inquiries, complaints, and concerns regarding food quality or service professionally
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper appearance of dining areas, equipment, fixtures, and furniture
- Maintain and operate all restaurant equipment with proper care
- Manage inventory of china, silverware, glassware, and other service items
- Work with the Controller and General Manager to develop annual budget
- Set an example of professionalism, service standards, and teamwork
- Interact with others regularly through various communication methods
- Handle minor workplace hazards such as burns or cuts
- Perform physical tasks including movement, bending, twisting, stooping, standing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motions
- Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects, tools, or controls
- Work both indoors and outdoors as required
- Lift up to 50 pounds as necessary
- Supervise kitchen and restaurant staff
